Philip W. Johnson, BA, MS Geophysics + 44 years Experience
I have more than 40 years of experience including processing and interpretation of 2D and 3D data, field studies and exploration. I correlate my own logs and develop my own ideas. I was with AMOCO for 32 years and have done consulting projects for AMOCO, ENRON (now EOG), Anschutz, Lafourche Realty (a large land owner), and numerous smaller operators and land owners. My credentials are strong in both technical Geophysics and in Geologic and Geophysical Interpretation. Geologic and Seismic Interpretation, I have an SMT Kingdom Workstation and a wide format printer and am an expert in workstation interpretation. I have also used LandMark for many years. I load my own data including IHS production and completion data. I also load data from well files. I make use of industry standards for presentations. Evaluation of Prospects and Production I am an expert in the conversion of time maps to accurate depth maps. I do standard log analyses and reservoir computations. I use risk analysis and do predictive economic analysis on my prospects. Field Studies and Prospect Generation, I am comfortable working with a team on field studies and can handle both the Geologic and Geophysical aspects. I am familiar with the Production Engineering issues and can work with the Engineer to incorporate them into the field study. Seismic attribute extraction and interpretation and Petrophysical-Seismic modeling are useful tools with which I am experienced. Data Mining (finding data), Organization, and Quality Control, Data acquisition and workstation entry is a fundamental skill. I have done this numerous times and have sources for digital and raster logs, completion and production data, well spots and Seismic lines. I can convert paper seismic lines and maps into workstation digital displays. Finding the data and locating it spatially on the workstation is half the fight for the explorer. I've done this many times both on and off shore. Data Room Construction and Management, If you are a producer or landowner with Geologic and/or Geophysical data in your possession, I can organize it on a Work Station and make it available for explorers to use in farm-in or exploration studies. This will lead to opportunities for you to monetize the investment that you have in the data. I can house the data in my office or in yours and act as host to your prospective clients.
SMT
Kingdom Workstation
I have 2D-3D-PAK (2D and 3D seismic interpretation), Earth-PAK (well logs correlation and cross sections and log analysis), Trace-PAK (seismic inversion and filtering), and SYN-PAK (synthetics). This is the major tool used by Geoscientists today and I have many years of experience on it. All standard seismic and geologic maps cross sections, and adjunct displays can be printed or saved to Power Point. Expert user of EXCEL, ACCESS, DIDGER3, SURFER, GRAPHER, and PowerPoint. I create master data bases from diverse sources of data and cross-tabulate them to find missing or erroneous data. I make digital data exports that can then be uploaded to the work station. Prospects are documented using Power Point. Map coordinate transforms can be accomplished through KINGDOM or Didger. Well logs can be digitized through program DIDGER quickly and used immediately for porosity and Sw computations. Experienced with Digital and Raster Log Loading, Depth Registering and Correlation Expert in Velocity, Depth Conversion, I taught courses in this for AMOCO and SIPES. The methods that I use are also used by AMOCO and SHELL OIL. The use of maps in depth rather than time are critical to the development of accurate reservoir volume predictions. Expert in Seismic Attribute Computation and Interpretation Technical Geophysical attributes can be extracted and correlated to lithologies and hydrocarbon accumulations. This is an area where the explorationist must fully understand the relationship between petrophysical rock properties and seismic reflection attributes. I have the credentials to be considered an expert in this difficult area of interpretation.
